Evaluation for ycn brief

O2 Brief Ycn Evaluation.
This brief has been an interesting learning curve for my self collaborating with another designer always proves a challenge as I am quiet an independent designer and so this is an good opportunity for me to expand my knowledge of graphic design in areas that I am not as confident in.
The relationship between us both initially was a strange combination combing Wills illustrative skills with my typographic, layout and branding skills however when we choose the brief to work on it became apparent that o2 was asking for something like this. Illustrative, yet clean & branded. We both however have strong conceptual mind and I am highly competitive and so all this combined with a strong clever and intriguing concept would create a good strong outcome or o2.
I wouldn’t say that our research has been radically dramatic. We had to ensure that we researched thoroughly into other phone companies and the o2 company to make sure that we were not designing another copy of a design that has already been marketed ( as shown below on my blog). I researched into injection molding, which was interesting as I spoke to a company who specializes in this Proto mold he also sent me an interesting pack about the company and how the process works. Our design development however was well informed due to our intricate details of research within phone companies as some of our ideas we were creating were touching on previous companies design. Which wasn’t our aim of the project we wanted to ensure that we were going to create something creative and inspiring for o2.

The strengths within my work on my part of the partnership was the branding, typography and layout as well as the organizing and time management. We both however strengthened our skills with conceptual thinking and ideas development.
Although in some areas with us both having fairly different tastes within the graphic design sometimes it became confusing with the ideas development process and therefore I don’t feel that we exhausted every idea as well as we could have done.
This is something that I need to focus on in future project I need to ensure that I sit down and exhaust every idea until I feel it works in the best possible way to my audience. This way once I get onto a computer to design my idea I don’t become confused and waste time.

However in collaborative briefs I tend to find my self less motivated and enthusiastic. I stated early I am a fairly independent designer I like to stick to my independent time plan with my own personal deadlines how ever I have to compensate this and I find my ideas, inspiration and creativity not as energetic. Although it is good practice I sometimes find my self struggling to get positive strong outcomes.

• If I was going to do another collaborative brief I would probably work with somebody with the same interests as my self to see how well an idea can progress and if my strengths would dramatically improve.
• Exhaust as many ideas as possible to ensure the best possible outcome for my target market.
• More interesting creative research for a more interesting outcome
• Ensure that all development work and ideas work is properly documented for assessment.
• Develop my strengths within graphic design as I now begin to specialize in areas that I am most confident within.
• Practice my presentation skill s to ensure that an idea comes across in a positive interesting manner.
